BARE HOUSE. Pori - Rotterdam - Ulaanbaatar is an international
exhibition and publication project that comments on the built
environment, reflecting upon the past and present ideals of modern
society through Western welfare states and the Third World. The project
focuses especially on architecture and the dimensions of personal
existence. Modernisation with its belief in prefabricated construction
and standards is challenged by the potential for autonomous construction.
The artists and architects featured in the exhibition come from Finland,
Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia and Mongolia. Most of the
works in the show were created during artist residencies in Mongolia,
the Netherlands and Pori.
Curator: Annu Wilenius.
In cooperation with: Aalto University/Pori School of Art and Design,
Pori AIR - Artist in Residency, Foundation Kaus Australis, Open Society
Institute & The Soros Foundations Network.

Towards a contextual approach to Duisburg-Marxloh:
Six artist from Rotterdam are invited to work for one month in Duisburg –
Marxloh.
The project is initiated and organized by Kim Zieschang and Arnoud
Schuurman.
Kunst
als stimulatie voor veranderingen - veranderingen voor een leefbare
stad
De
volksbuurt Marxloh in Duisburg is misschien een van de best
georganiseede en meest trotse, sociale, getto van Duitsland. De wijk
is getekend door: werkloosheid, armoede, leegstand van woningen en
vertrekken. Marxloh zou een synoniem kunnen zijn voor dat wat in
andere bevolkingscentra gebeurt of nog zou kunnen gebeuren.
Hoe
kan structurele verandering - in tijden van economische en ecologische
crisis - bevordert en als kans - begrepen worden? Dit om teneinde een leefbare,
groene stad, met een verantwoorde maatschappij te vormen.
Welke
visies - met betrekking van een milieubewuste stad - zijn te
realiseren en welke samenwerkingsverbanden kunnen gelegd worden met
bijvoorbeeld moderne
technologieën? Deze kwesties en zwaartepunten zullen uitgangspunten
vormen voor de onderzoek in Marxloh.
Duisburg-Marxloh
is onderdeel van het meest dichtbevolkte industriegebied van Duitsland
maar ook van Europa. Sinds begin van de kolen krisis in 1957 bevindt
zich het concentratiegebied in een aanhoudende fase van structurele
verandering. Tussen 1980 - 2002 hebben een half miljoen werknemers uit
productiebedrijven hun werk verloren, terwijl 300.000 werkplekken in
de dienstensectoren tot stand kwamen. Voorbeelden voor structurele
verandering van een vestigingsplaats voor productie, naar een locatie
voor onderzoek, was de oprichting van hogescholen, maar ook de bouw
van drie Opel autofabrieken 1962 in Bochum. In een wetenschapspark in
Gesenkirchen produceren kleine en gemiddelde bedrijven hoogtechnologie.
Met de nieuwe economische en ecologische crisis van de laatste jaren
wordt duidelijk, dat een nog duurzamere ontwikkeling nagestreefd moet
worden.

The XXIst International
Biennale of Vallauris will take place from July to November 2010. As
part of this Biennale, a competition, reserved for members of the
European Union, is being organized under the aegis of the Municipality
of Vallauris Golfe-Juan by a Committee of the Biennale meeting at the
town hall.

Die Ausstellung Grenzgänger zeigt
Arbeiten zeitgenössischer Künstler, Architekten und Theatermacher,
die den Mauerfall in Deutschland vor zwanzig Jahren erinnern.
Eingeladen wurden deutsche Künstler, die in den Niederlanden wohnen
und so einen besonderen niederländisch-deutschen Blick auf das
einschneidende Ereignis haben und diesem künstlerischen Ausdruck
verleihen. Das Goethe-Institut ist stolz diese besonderen,
eigenwilligen und persönlichen Arbeiten präsentieren zu dürfen.
Gezeigt werden Arbeiten von Michael Anhalt, Atelier Kempe Thill, Caro
Bensca, Martin Effert, Kopvol, Susanne Kriemann, Marc Müller, Tanja
Otolski, Christine Saalfeld, Mechthild Stuhlmacher, Stefan Gross,

Im Rahmen dieser Ausstellung wird im
November das Rotterdam VHS Festival stattfinden.

Working
Period in Mongolia
The
working period in Mongolia was meant to examine the country as an artist
and especially to focus on the changes the country has experienced
within the last ten years. Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia,
could be a metaphor for these changes. 39 % of all inhabitants of
Mongolia are living in Ulaanbaatar. The city has it's own administration
unit, but it's not a coherent urban area. With it's rural settlement
structure outside downtown it is rather comparable with a small province.

Opening
van het nieuwe speeltoestel „wolkenboom-huis“ van kunstenares
Christine Saalfeld.
Stichting
Wereldtuin Katendrecht biedt kinderen met verschillende culturele
achtergronden een plek waar ze samen kunnen spelen, leren en ontdekken.
Op het binnenterrein achter de Tolhuisstraat in Rotterdam worden lessen
gegeven over natuur, kunst en handenarbeid.
